THE OLDER YOU GET, THE FASTER THE MONTHS AGO.
The Older You Get, the Faster the Months Go. Already it's April. New Years day seems as if it was only a few weeks ago, but already we're into the forth month, the hours of day light are getting noticeably less and I've put a woolly jersey on. The vegetable garden has been pretty successful allowing us to be self-sufficient. Some things have done well, like peaches of which we picked about 60kgs. Spuds are plentiful enough that there wont be a famine, sweet corn is better than anything you'd use from a tin and whilst tomatoes aren't as plentiful as previous years, quality is the best ever. It's a cliché, so you've heard it before. "Bought tomatoes are nothing but colour and tasteless texture", that's what my Dad used to say during his more positive moments. Still to harvest are NZ yams and sweet potatoes, or as they are called over here, kumara. Carrots are BIG. As winter draws closer, we have spent a few hours with the chain saws in...
