Can it only happen in New Zealand? Colours are the smiles of nature. Why was the 77 year old driving her SUV in a sedate pace around the streets of Martinborough on a Friday morning at 08.55 with ear protectors on.  Bob Marley wasn’t  blaring out of her sub woofers, “every little things going to be alright”.  Mick Jagger hadn’t just bought residency and was doing a spontaneous concert in the square and it was long past being snuggled up to a partner who snored like a seal stuck in a Swiss mountain horn.  It was nothing more than her dog was barking and of course at that age protecting your ears from high volumes is essential.  No one worries that she can’t hear traffic.  I expect next time I see her she’ll have her eye shades on, snaffled from her last flight from Hawaii, because the sun has risen.  Safety is more important than getting there. Martinborough, our nearest ‘town’, well micro village, but I suppose it depends where you come from, po...

We've Landed and Arrived.

We took a third of the time that our container by ship is taking, to get from Coventry to Blue Rock Road, and after several landings in Hong Kong, Auckland and Wellington, we have finally landed in Blue Rock Road.  It took 18 days. It feels like it's taken a while.  Whilst we were in isolation we were given a bath bomb to celebrate International Bathtub Day, but Google tells me that the day is on October 7.  Maybe we arrived here in October and were there for 2 months and not 2 weeks. I’m still not sure if soon I will wake up from a dream, or maybe I have woken up from a nightmare to be in reality.  However, being out here is almost like being in isolation all over again, except instead of being kept in doors for 23 hrs and 20 minutes, I'm allowed out for 23 hrs and 20 minutes. Christmas day came, and I hope you all had as good a day as can be expected in the circumstances.  Oh, I’m sorry it i...

I'd forgotten my hat for the daily 35 minute walk. The great wall of food containers. Yup, we had some fun.  Blind fold walk. 'Home' I'd got my test result and I was officially 'negative'.  As I said before, I've been told before that I am too negative, so it is nice to have it proven.  Positivity is so overrated; it's passe. With my negativity New Zealand welcomes me into the big wide world of little New Zealand.  But getting out isn't straightforward.  We'd been given a departure time of 09.30 and the lovely district nurse in uniform would visit between 06.30 and 09.15. Bags were packed 3 days prior, nothing was going to get in our way.  Up at 06.00, and then we waited and waited and waited.  We feared we'd been forgotten but reception simply said ...
